About the Condition

Cardiovascular disease — including coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction — remains the leading cause of global mortality. Atherosclerotic plaque-driven ischemia causes cardiomyocyte death, scar formation, and progressive loss of pump function. Even with optimal medical therapy, many post-MI and heart failure patients face declining functional capacity and quality of life.

The heart has a very limited capacity for self-repair after injury. The fibrotic scar formed after myocardial infarction is mechanically stiff and electrically abnormal, contributing to arrhythmia risk and pump dysfunction. Angiogenesis in peri-infarct zones is insufficient to restore adequate blood supply to hibernating myocardium.

MSC therapy for cardiovascular disease is one of the most extensively studied regenerative strategies, with over 70 clinical trials completed worldwide examining safety, feasibility, and efficacy in post-MI and heart failure patients.

How MSC Therapy May Help

MSCs promote cardiac repair through several mechanisms: paracrine secretion of VEGF and FGF stimulates angiogenesis in ischemic myocardium, increasing blood supply to hibernating cardiomyocytes; anti-inflammatory cytokines reduce the macrophage-driven inflammation that expands infarct size; and anti-fibrotic signals reduce scar stiffness and improve compliance.

Multiple randomized clinical trials — including the POSEIDON and CADUCEUS studies — have demonstrated that intracoronary or intramyocardial MSC injection post-MI reduces infarct scar size, improves left ventricular ejection fraction, reduces hospitalization for heart failure, and lowers MACE (major adverse cardiovascular event) rates compared with controls.

Regen Cord administers cells via intravenous infusion in selected cardiac patients, with intramyocardial delivery available in specialized cases. True Regen coordinates cardiology records review, echocardiography, and stress testing to confirm eligibility and track outcomes.

Expected Outcomes
  • Improved left ventricular ejection fraction
  • Reduced scar size on cardiac MRI
  • Improved exercise tolerance and 6-minute walk distance
  • Reduced NT-proBNP and inflammatory markers
  • Lower heart failure hospitalization rates

Individual results vary. All patients undergo full medical evaluation prior to treatment.
