About the Condition

Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent joint disease worldwide, affecting over 500 million people. It is characterized by progressive degradation of articular cartilage, subchondral bone remodeling, synovial inflammation, and joint space narrowing — resulting in chronic pain, stiffness, and functional limitation.

The knee, hip, and hand joints are most commonly affected. Unlike rheumatoid arthritis, OA is traditionally classified as a mechanical rather than purely autoimmune disease, though low-grade synovial inflammation plays a significant role in disease progression and pain. Current treatment is limited to symptom management and eventual joint replacement.

MSC therapy represents one of the few regenerative approaches with clinical evidence for disease modification rather than symptom masking — targeting the inflammatory and structural drivers of OA simultaneously.

How MSC Therapy May Help

MSCs can differentiate into chondrocytes under appropriate signals, and when injected intra-articularly, they home to damaged cartilage surfaces and begin secreting anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors including TGF-β, IGF-1, and FGF — stimulating resident chondrocytes and suppressing the synovial inflammation that drives further cartilage breakdown.

Multiple randomized controlled trials have evaluated intra-articular MSC injection for knee OA. Results consistently show reductions in WOMAC and VAS pain scores, increased walking distance, improved MRI cartilage grading, and delayed progression to joint replacement compared with controls.

Regen Cord administers cells via targeted intra-articular injection with imaging guidance where indicated. True Regen coordinates the pre-treatment imaging review, patient eligibility assessment, and full 12-month follow-up protocol.

Expected Outcomes
  • Significant reduction in joint pain and stiffness
  • Improved mobility and walking function
  • MRI evidence of cartilage preservation or partial regeneration
  • Reduced need for analgesics or corticosteroid injections
  • Delayed or avoided joint replacement

Individual results vary. All patients undergo full medical evaluation prior to treatment.
