About the Condition

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by insulin resistance, relative insulin deficiency, and progressive beta-cell failure. Affecting over 500 million people globally, T2D drives cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, neuropathy, and retinopathy — representing one of the largest global disease burdens.

The root drivers of T2D include systemic low-grade inflammation, adipose tissue dysfunction, gut microbiome dysbiosis, and mitochondrial impairment — factors that are not meaningfully addressed by standard glucose-lowering medications. Metformin, GLP-1 agonists, and insulin manage the downstream consequence (hyperglycemia) rather than the underlying pathobiology.

MSC therapy targets the inflammatory and metabolic root causes of T2D, offering a potential disease-modifying complement to conventional management — particularly for patients with suboptimal glycemic control, significant insulin requirements, or early complication burden.

How MSC Therapy May Help

MSCs exert powerful anti-inflammatory effects in metabolic tissue — particularly in adipose tissue and the liver — suppressing the chronic low-grade inflammation that drives hepatic insulin resistance. They also secrete hepatocyte growth factor, which promotes hepatic glycogen synthesis and improves insulin receptor signaling. In pancreatic tissue, MSC-derived factors protect remaining beta cells from apoptosis and have been observed to promote partial neogenesis.

Clinical trials in T2D patients have reported significant reductions in HbA1c, fasting glucose, and C-reactive protein following MSC infusion, along with improvements in HOMA-IR (insulin resistance index). In some patients, insulin requirements were reduced substantially at 12-month follow-up.

True Regen coordinates a full metabolic workup before treatment — HbA1c, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, comprehensive metabolic panel, and cardiovascular risk assessment — and tracks outcomes through the 12-month protocol.

Expected Outcomes
  • Reduction in HbA1c and fasting blood glucose
  • Improved insulin sensitivity (lower HOMA-IR)
  • Reduced insulin requirements in treated patients
  • Decreased systemic inflammatory markers
  • Improved lipid profile and cardiovascular risk factors

Individual results vary. All patients undergo full medical evaluation prior to treatment.
